How to Find Trending TikTok Sounds

Here are a few ways you can find TikTok songs that are going, or about to go, viral:

1. Search “Sounds”

When you’re swiping through the for you page and notice a pattern of songs or repetitive trends, click on the audio and check for video recency (check the dates on which the top videos on the audio page were made) to keep you from jumping on a stale trend.

However, to check if that audio is trending, you need to see if it has the red “popular” tag. To do so, type the audio name and the name of the artist in the search bar and scroll to the “Sounds” result at the top of the screen.

There, you can see and select which variation of the sound is trending. This can be a time-consuming process, so let’s look at more efficient ways of finding the next hit.

2. Identify Trends on the For You Page

Click the plus (+) icon on the bottom bar of the screen, like you would if you wanted to create a video.

Then click the “add sound” icon, and you will be redirected to an audio discovery page. The songs on your discovery page will be unique to you based on your interests and geographical location. You can also find your saved sounds on the page.

Note that brands and businesses do not have the same leeway other content creators have. As a business owner, you need to verify you have permission to use the sounds to prevent copyright infringement. TikTok has a “Commercial Sounds” category so you can see which sounds are licensed for this purpose.

To navigate to that menu, click the Sounds text with a downward arrow. You’ll have two options to choose from. Click Commercial Sounds

3. Pay Attention to Top TikTok Creators

Some creators spend the bulk of their content finding and using breakout songs before they go viral or become saturated. You may choose to find those creators and track their content. However, most of them charge for this information.

Another option in this space is identifying popular content creators and imitating their content. When they upload a particular content, check what audio they’re using. See if you could create a video that uses the song in a way that’s authentic to your brand.

4. Use the TikTok Creative Center Platform

While platforms like TokBoard compile and update trending songs, TikTok has a dedicated insights platform that allows you to search for popular and breakout trends. It also allows you to search for popular videos and the latest TikTok trends using hashtags.

Moreover, it highlights trending songs that brands and businesses can use for commercial purposes such as creating ads and sponsored posts.
